Introduction
The Gastroenterology & Hepatology department at RPGMC Kangra offers a full spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. The unit is equipped with modern endoscopy systems and staffed by trained gastroenterologists.
Endoscopic Procedures

Advanced Procedures
- Fibroscan for liver fibrosis and steatosis assessment
- Esophageal stricture dilatation (balloon / bougie)
- Esophageal SEMS placement for malignant strictures
- Balloon dilatation for gastric outlet obstruction
- Cyanoacrylate glue injection for gastric varices
- Double balloon enteroscopy for small bowel evaluation
Preparation
Upper GI endoscopy: Fasting for 6–8 hours. Colonoscopy: Bowel preparation with prescribed laxatives and clear liquid diet one day prior. Patients must bring all relevant medical records and report to the Endoscopy Unit at the scheduled time.
