Surgical procedures and operative care

Introduction

The Department of Surgery started in November 1997 at DRPGMC Hospital Dharamshala with 2 faculty members. It shifted to Tanda in December 2007. Currently, the department has 10 faculty members, 125 bedded indoor wards, major OTs on the 3rd floor, and a 13 bedded burn ward. The OPD complex includes a minor OT, endoscopy room, and proctology room. Services include general surgery, pancreatico-biliary surgery, cancer surgery, thyroid surgery, breast surgery, and laparoscopic surgery. Renal transplant training is ongoing.

Vision

Expansion to 6 units (18 faculty, 180 beds). Advanced laparoscopic equipment, SICU, dedicated laparoscopic OTs, modular OTs. Continuous learning through CMEs and workshops.
